Congratulations to Dr. Carlos Spaht who has achieved national acclaim once again for himself and LSU in Shreveport. 

 

Today the National Science Foundation and The White House, Office of Science and Technology Policy, announced that Dr. Spaht was one of ten individuals selected to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring.  President Clinton established this award in 1996 to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations that inspire and mentor young people to succeed in the fields of science, math and engineering. 

 

This award will include a $10,000 grant and a presidential certificate.

 

Channel 3 will provide coverage of this award tonight at 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
