As a direct result of LaPREP, Dr. Spaht has won three awards for public service and mentoring: The Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service in Education and the Jacqueline Onassis Award for Greatest Public Service Benefiting Local Communities, and The Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.
Since 2003, he has been the director of Financial Independence for Life, a program he helped envision, design, develop and acquire funding sources.
