    About LSUS Chapter

Established on 7 October 1985, Phi Kappa Phi's LSUS Chapter is committed to its motto, "Let the love of learning rule mankind".  The Chapter promotes academic excellence in all fields of higher education and recognizes outstanding scholastic achievements by students, faculty, staff and alumni.  Among the activities in the last few years of the Chapter are co-sponsorship of the Lincoln and Washington yearly conferences and other programs from Dr. Pederson's American Studies Program.

Although many major curricula have their own honor societies within the major, Phi Kappa Phi is the only honor society at LSUS that chooses from the best students across all majors.  To be initiated, undergraduate students must be in the top 10% of the graduates from LSUS.  Junior level students must be in the top 5% of the junior class and senior level students must be in the top 10% of the senior class.  Two graduate students from each college can be selected and are nominated for membership by the Deans of the four colleges based on their outstanding academic achievements.
